Jimmy’s Pharm Facts : Vacation Memories
Over the years I have been blessed with the opportunity to go on some (in my mind) great vacations. I would describe myself as the “Homebody” type with a tinge of vacation-phobia mixed in. It is strange but the thought of going on vacation is like a heavy weight to me but once I get there the thought of coming home weighs heavy too. Compared to most I am a vacation novice, but compared to others I could say I have some experience under my belt. Recently, while discussing summer plans and trips my daughter said, “you know, if it weren’t for Jerry (my brother) we wouldn’t have any vacation memories from when we were kids.” My first thought was well that’s not true, but you know the more I thought about it the more I realized that I would not have had any vacation memories as an adult if it weren’t for Jerry (my brother). Now, I’m not counting the trips to Six Flags, Wet N’ Wild or the weekend getaways. Believe me I have had my fair share of sunburns, pruned feet, and my comb over flappin’ in the wind. (Just to be clear I haven’t had a comb over in years, that was way back when they were in style.) I’m talking about the vacations that you actually have to plan. The kind you have to book in advance and back in the day, actually hire a travel agent to work out the details. I didn’t do any of that. I have never done any of that. Some of you might be thinking sure you didn’t do it because your wife did, but that is false! My wife is more of a “homegirl” than I am a “homeboy”. I have many stories to back up how she and vacations don’t get along but for my supper’s sake it is best not to put any of it in writing. So, I guess what I’m getting at is enjoy your summer and make some memories! Enjoy your vacation, weekend getaway or even staying home. You can always play poker and listen to Bon Jovi….that’s what my Grandson told me he and his Mom have been doing…It’s a memory, right??
